If you're looking for something on Russian history that's short in duration and pretty light in tone, (so kind of the opposite of Dan Carlin's Hardcore History podcast, which I recommended in a previous post), you should give this episode of John Green's Crash Course World History series from a few years ago a look.
You may already be aware of John Green as the Fault in Our Stars guy, or the Mental Floss guy, or indeed one of the two Vlog Brothers guys. Yep, all those are him. He keeps busy. In fact, I am starting to have my suspicions that he either only sleeps a couple of hours a night or he has succeeded in cloning himself...
In case you're unfamiliar with his schtick, he does a great job of switching between the whimsical and the sardonic without being jarring. I particularly enjoy the withering ripostes and put-downs he delivers in response to the inane questions and smart-alecky quips of a high-school version of himself.
Besides the Medieval Russians episode, there's also one on the Cold War, and another on the beginning of WWI in the second series.
